VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT: 

The Vision of the Civil Engineering Department is to develop high quality Diploma Engineers with  sound pragmatic knowledge, strong sense of ethical values and good team working & management capabilities whose collective energy will be the driving force to render the societal needs with the ability to keep pace with rapidly changing global technologies.

MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT: 

a.   Nurturing and developing knowledge and competencies enabling students of diploma in   Civil engineering so as to meet the challenges in global perspective

b.   Deliver skill based quality education in Civil engineering

c.   Wholesome contribution to society and contribute to growth of the developing core industries with confidence

d.   To nurture the students with better recognition, value, content and skill added qualifications

e.   Provide consultancy services, research, and development and advanced engineering educational projects in the area of Civil Engineering to meet the societal needs

f.   To create technical manpower in such a way that they can stand steadily in the age of global competition

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

  • PEO1: [Successful Carrier]: Ability to establish fundamental knowledge, problem solving skills, engineering experimental abilities, and design capabilities for a Civil engineering carrier.
  • PEO2:   [Adaptability   with   a   new   learning   environment]:   Ability   to   adapt   with   new environments, assimilates updated information, and solves complex problems.
  • PEO3:[Keeping  Pace  with  the  Developing  World]:  Ability to  pursue  higher  education  and research for a must-working environment in accordance with the global needs and expectations. Also ability to deal effectively with the ethical and professional issues.
  • PEO4:[Integration with the Society]: Ability to formulate the knowledge and skills necessary for identifying and evaluating design alternatives and the related social, economic, environmental and public safety impacts. Also the ability to integrate into the world of practising professionals for collaboration, mutual support and representing the profession to government and the society.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES:

a)  identify, formulate and analyse complex problems in civil engineering field using basic knowledge in mathematics, science and engineering as well as reaching substantiate conclusion.

b)  apply knowledge of mathematics, science, fundamentals of engineering skills and core knowledge of civil engineering for the solution of complex engineering problems.

c)  design  various  structures  such  as  buildings,  bridges  etc.  with  appropriate  considerations  of  the standards of public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental considerations.

d)  investigate complex problems that may not be solved by conventional methods and technology based knowledge to provide valid conclusion.

e)  use modern tools to complex engineering activities with an understanding of their limitations.

f)   apply reasoning to access social, health, legal and cultural issues relevant to professional engineering practice.

g)  understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in social and environmental context

for sustainable development.

h)  demonstrate integrity with professional and ethical behaviour.

i)   function  effectively  as  an  individual  as  well  as  a  team  member  or  leader  in  a  team  with multidisciplinary settings.

j)   communicate effectively on complex technological community and society at large.

k)  demonstrate knowledge and understanding of project management and apply these to ones own works as individual, team member or leader.

l)   engage in life-long learning and adapt to rapidly changing technologies.

COURSE OUTCOMES:

CO#1:  apply knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry and basic engineering sciences to analyse and design various structures in Civil Engineering.

CO#2:  apply knowledge of basic engineering techniques using modern Civil Engineering tools (Staad- pro, Auto-cad, MS-project etc.) in order to solve complex engineering problems.

CO#3:   acquire a profound knowledge of Strength of materials, Mechanics of Structure, Building Materials and Construction, Concrete Technology Design of RCC and Steel structure and Geotechnical engineering and apply them for efficient design of infrastructures in Civil Engineering.

CO#4:   acquire a profound knowledge of Civil Engineering Drawing, Civil Engineering Project, and Professional Practice to design and execute various infrastructures with proper optimization as per the emergent industry needs.

CO#5:   acquire adequate knowledge on Estimating & Costing, Contracts & Accounts to estimate the overall cost, valuation, prepare tender document for Civil Engineering works.

CO#6:   acquire an in-depth knowledge of Transportation Engineering to organize and co-ordinate construction  activities  of  road,  railway,  monitoring  quality  control  parameter  related  to  road engineering.

CO#7:    acquire profuse knowledge of Hydraulics to design large hydraulic structures (Canal, Dam, Barrage, Weir etc.).

CO#8:  design and conduct experiments, measure and interpret the data.

CO#9:  understand the impact of engineering solution in a global, economic, environmental and societal context.

CO#10: express effectively in both verbal and written forms.

CO#11: be familiar with industries and industrial works.

CO#12: to adapt to technological development from time to time.

CO#13: work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and excel as an individual as well as a team member, and show leadership quality in working environment.

CO#14: understand norms of professional and ethical behavior in engineering practice.

CO#15: use new modern techniques and tools for application in solving engineering problem
