Vision of the Department:

Vision of the department of Survey Engineering is to sculpt competent and trained students of tomorrow with the advanced skills and knowledge in every aspect of Survey Engineering and to prepare them technically sounds to provide service to the society, nation and world at large with engineering competency.

Mission of the Department:

A.    Achieving academic excellence in different domain of knowledge with respect to Survey Engineering.
B.    Development of creative thinking & problem solving skills in different sectors of Survey Engineering.
C.    Realize the closer relationship between theory and practical.
D.    Integration of project and research with academic process so that they can stand steadily in the age of global           competition.
E.     Culturing Individual and Collective Excellence.
F.     Learning the uses of new technologies for effectively solve practical cases through self–learning process.
G.     Growing the habit of contribution to society and contribute to growth of the developing core industries.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) 

  • PEO1: [Successful Career]: Ability to establish fundamental knowledge, problem solving skills, engineering calculation abilities, and design capabilities for a successful Survey Engineering career. 
  • PEO2: [Adaptability with a new learning environment]: Ability to adapt with new environments, assimilation of updated information, and solvingof complex problems involved in the practical cases. 
  • PEO3: [Keeping Pace with the Developing World]: Ability to pursue post-diploma education and research for the future working environment in accordance with the global needs and expectations. Also ability to deal effectively with the ethical and professional issues. 
  • PEO4:[Integration with the Society]: Ability to employment of the knowledge and skills necessary for identifying and evaluating design alternatives and the related social, economic, environmental and public safety impacts. Also the ability to integrate into the world of practicing professionals for collaboration, mutual support and representingthe profession to government and the society.

Programme Outcomes (POs)

a)        apply knowledge of mathematics, science, fundamentals of engineering skills and basicknowledge of Survey Engineering for the solution of complexengineering problems.

b)        identify, formulate and analyze complex problems in Survey Engineering field using basic knowledge in mathematics, science and engineering as well asreaching substantiated conclusion.

c)         design and develop systems, components and processes with appropriateconsiderations of the standards of public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

d)        investigate complex problems that may not be solved by conventional methods anddemand use of research based knowledge and research methods to provide valid conclusion.

e)         use modern tools to complex engineering activities with an understanding of theirlimitations.

f)         apply reasoning to access social, health, legal and cultural issues relevant to professionalengineering sector. Demonstrate Integrity with professional and ethical behavior

g)        understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in social and environmental context for sustainable development.

h)        demonstrate integrity with professional and ethical behavior.

i)          function effectively as an individual as well as a team member or leader in a team and multidisciplinary settings.

j)          communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with engineering community and society at large.

k)        demonstrate knowledge & understanding of project, management and apply these toone's own work as individual, team member or leader.

The POs defined above are aimed to foster the attainment of the PEOs defined earlier


Course Outcomes (COs)

CO#0l: Apply knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry and engineering sciences to conduct andcalculate the field survey works and collected data respectively.

CO#02: Acquire an in-depth knowledge of Chain and Compass Survey, principle of Levelling, basic concept of Theodolite, Plane Table, Planimeter and different type of surveying instrument.

CO#03:Acquire basic concept of contour and its use, cartographic drawing and its significance to make a map of a particular area on the Earth.

CO#04: Acquire an in-depth knowledge of Geodesy & Astronomy, concept of Latitude and Longitude and calculation of time & position of a place by Astronomical observation.

CO#05: Acquire knowledge of Tachometry & Cadastral Survey, computation of Bearing, Latitude and departure, Computation of area and volume by different methods.

CO#06:Familiarity with Modern Survey technique, uses of EDM, Electronics Level, Total Station, GPS, GIS and basic concept of trilateration and its computation.

CO#07:Understand basic concept of Topography and Hydrography, calculation of Discharge & analysis of a Hydrograph.

CO#08 Basic concept of Tunnel & Mine Survey, Calculation & Estimation of reserves by different methods, concept of mine correlation, shaft survey.

CO#09:Concept of curve produce in a road, calculation and survey involves in it.

C0#10:Be familiar with the Triangulation Survey, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing and its application in Land cover analysis.

CO#11: Familiarity with Municipal Engineering, water distribution system & sewage treatment system.

CO#12:Understand norms of Land Laws & Land Records and its significance in the surveying.

CO#13: Basic knowledge of Building Material & Construction, RCC Design and Civil Engineering Drawing.

CO#14:Ability to preparation of Estimate, costing, contracts and tenders. Acquire basic knowledge of Quantity Surveying.

CO#15:Acquire knowledge of Survey Softwares (e.g. ARC GIS, PYTHAGOROUS CAD+GIS, AUTO CAD etc.) and Use new modern techniques and tools for application in Survey Engineering problems.

CO#16:Understand norms of professional and ethical behavior in engineering practice.
